Maggie's silly self

Here are just a few silly photos Rob took last night of our munchkin...
She's all smiles these days.

Just because

Our little Claire Bear is quite a character. She has a strong personality, loves the word "NO" and needs to work on her listening skills (as does her older sister). But, she is so stinkin' cute and such a love bug when she wants to be. She still wakes around 5am and usually entertains herself with her mini DVD player until we get up. Here she is one evening all snug in her bed trying to watch something.

Claire received these flowers from Nana for her birthday, and I just got around to hanging them from Claire's ceiling last weekend. Aren't they cute? Each time I'm in the room Claire says, "Look at my beautiful flowers, Mom." She loves them!
And this has to be one of the funniest pictures we have. Lilly always wants to hold Maggie... whether Maggie wants to be held or not. I love Lilly's forced smile and Maggie's obvious annoyance.
 Oh my!

Mothers Day Highlights

We have always enjoyed visiting the fountain at the Fountain Hills lake, and so that is what we did Mother's Day morning. We picked up breakfast and took a little picnic to the park. The area is equipped with play structures, a splash pad, a massive fountain and ducks!
Here I am with my little buddy.
and my big girls...
Here's the splashin' sisters. They are truly maniacs in the water.
I asked them to make a silly face, and this is what I got...
Love the cactus! Love my family! (not in that order :)

Maggie, month 4

Okay, okay, this post is long over due. Maggie is 4 months old... here's a little of what she's been up to. At her 4 month well-check, she weighed 17 pounds- was 95th percentile for height and weight, 75th percentile for head circumference. She wasn't thrilled about receiving her 4 month vaccines, but at least she didn't throw a literal kicking, screaming fit like her sister (I took Lilly at the same time to get her kindergarten shots. I just about had to sit on Lilly for them to give her the shots- embarrassing.)

This is where Maggie has spent many an hour over the last 4 months... on my lap, asleep on the bobby, while I worked on my computer. I was lucky to teach all online this spring- great flexibility for my little newborn. She especially liked it when I worked on the blog.
She still likes the bath, even if she has to share with her two older sisters.
Look Mom, I can roll over! Maggie can move from her back to her side to her belly. In fact, she prefers sleeping on her side nowadays. The swaddle is long gone.
The other night we even tried her in the exersaucer. Lilly and Claire were just as entertained as Maggie was, it seemed. I'm going to have to watch Maggie like a hawk when she's in the saucer. I turned by back only for a second and Lilly tried to spin the saucer like a top- with Maggie inside. On the tile it went pretty fast. I chucked only for a second before my mommy voice took over...
"Absolutely NOT, Lilly!"
Other news... we have moved beyond rice cereal to peas and sweet potatoes. Cereal was too blah.
I still can't get Lilly or Claire to try the peas. Imagine that.
Oh, and during Maggie's 4 month appointment, the doctor looked in her mouth and noticed she had a nice case of thrush. She had been a bit irritable, but I didn't notice any white spots in her mouth- how terrible. Maggie is currently enjoying 14 days of antibiotics. Nice.

Zoo time

Before the real heat of summer arrives, we thought we'd better get to the zoo. It was a cool 90 or so degree day with lots of sun- a great recipe for a zoo adventure. So, off we went. We had every intention of playing in the splash pad, but once we pulled in the zoo parking lot, I realized I'd left the swimsuits at home. Oh well. We had fun regardless. :)

Here's Lilly sporting her new shades from Shelly.
These are her "Hannah shades."
Claire prefers the squint to wearing shades.
Lilly and Claire love watching the turtles and fish from above. Claire has to get on her tippy toes to see over the ledge.
Since Maggie is the only one using the stroller, Claire used Dad for a ride when she got a blister on her toe. Ouch! Look at those dirty feet.
 We visited the friendly elephants...
Maggie was quite taken with the alligators...
Here's Ariel, I mean Lilly, sitting in a giant clam shell. Rob told her to show us her "princess pose" and this is what he got...
It's always a great day at the zoo!

Beyond the bottle...

Miss Maggie is almost 4 months old, so we thought it was time to introduce grains.
Drum roll please.... introducing rice cereal.
She likes it!
This morning we tried it again...this time, she sat in the highchair.
 YUM! YUM!
Next on the menu... oatmeal and then veggies!

Quick Trip

We took a super quick trip to Kansas this past weekend to visit our new nephew, Blaise, and to introduce Maggie to a few Kansans. In just three days, we weren't able to see everyone we had hoped, so we apologize for that. But it was a good trip seeing family in Wichita, Canton and Junction City. Here are just a few photos of Maggie's first trip to Kansas.
