Valentine Celebrations!

We hope your Valentine's day was a special one. Our family tradition, dating back to when I was a little girl, is to celebrate with a family dinner. This year we invited our good friends Shawn and Amy to join us. I made a meal of homemade cheese manicotti, homemade ciabatta bread, fresh vegetable salad and homemade red velvet cake. And, of course, we also enjoyed several types of wine. While Claire was napping, Lilly helped me set the table, and when Claire saw the dining room, she asked Rob if we were having a tea party. Too cute! Here is Claire eating all of the candy conversation hearts that decorated the table.
The cake was a recipe from Cook's Country.  Delish!
Lilly added the purple sugar to the top of the cake. She thought it needed a little pizazz.
 Here we are at dinner...
And, just as in years past, the girls received gifts. One of their gifts was the movie Despicable Me which came with a blow up minion named Dave, or "banana" as Claire calls him. Claire also received a Wall E play set, and Lilly received a new Princess bell and basket for her bicycle.
Valentine's is such fun! It's a great time to remember those we love. And, as our neighbors reminded us, a time to remember how much God loves all of us...
This is real love- not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. - 1 John 4:10
